Know the real cost of spending overseas.
Convert a foreign price to Australian dollars, then add your card's transaction fee and exchange-rate markup. Reference rates come from Cotizave when available. No sign-up.
The reference rate is not your bank's rate. Enter the fees from your card's terms; your statement may differ.

Current reference checked when you open the calculatorHow the true cost is worked out
A converter shows a reference rate. Your bank or card provider usually charges more than that, in up to three ways. We show each one separately.
Where our numbers come from
Exchange rate data powered by Cotizave. USD/AUD uses an Australian reference; other supported currencies are derived via USD from Cotizave's public country rates. The calculators show no result if a valid rate is unavailable. See our methodology.

Questions
Is this the rate my bank will charge? +
No. We use Cotizave reference data when available. Banks, card networks and merchants set their own rates and may add fees. Check your card's terms before relying on an estimate.
What is a foreign transaction fee? +
A percentage some cards charge when you pay in a foreign currency or pay an overseas merchant, even in AUD. The amount and how it's applied vary by provider, so check your card's terms.
Should I pay in AUD or local currency overseas? +
It depends on the rate the merchant offers and what your bank charges. The merchant or its processor sets the AUD offer; our comparison tool uses a Cotizave reference when available and your entered card fees.
Where do your exchange rates come from? +
Cotizave supplies the reference data. Non-USD AUD conversions are derived through USD from its public country rates. Each calculator shows the source time and an unavailable state when it cannot verify the rate.
Does AussieSpend exchange money or give advice? +
No. AussieSpend is a free set of calculators and guides. We don't exchange money, process payments or give personal financial advice.
